Linear bearing

Straight or linear drive bearings are bearings designed to provide free movement in one direction. There are different types of linear bearings.

Mechanized linear slides such as machine slide, XY table, roller table, and some dovetail slides are bearings that are driven by actuators. Not all linear slides are motorized, and non-motor-driven dovetail, ball-bearing and roller slides provide low-friction linear movement for inertial gear or by hand. All linear slides provide linear movement based on the bearings, whether it be ball bearings, tail bearings, linear bearings, magnetic or liquid bearings. The XY table, linear stage, machine slide, and other advanced slides use linear drives to provide movement along multiple X and Y axes.
